Assets of Community Value

The Community Right to Bid allows communities and parish councils to nominate buildings or land for listing by the local authority as an asset of community value.

If the assets comes up for sale, the community can ‘pause’ the sale and take up to six months to find the funding required to buy the asset.

You can find out more about the Right to Bid and Assets of Community Value on the Cheshire West and Chester website at the link below:

Tilston Parish Council Assets of Community Value

This Asset of Community Value was registered in October 2015

The shop is the only shop in the village of Tilston.

The shop provides general provisions including fresh fruit, vegetables, bread and dairy products as well as magazines and newspapers.

Residents can also top up their electric supply.

The village stores is a focal point for the village, collecting for the Whitchurch Foodbank, providing free dog waste bags and bus timetables.

It should be noted that the Village Stores won the ‘Little Gem’ award in 2014 as part of the Community Pride Competition run by Cheshire Community Action and the owner won the ‘Community Champion’ category having been nominated by the Parish Council
Many residents both young and old would struggle without the Village Stores, especially those who do not have access to their own transport.
